HDR Photography

1. The camera must have an Auto Exposure Bracketing function so that the pictures are automatically for over and under exposure
2. A DSLR, a tripod, and a HDR photo blending software
3. HDR makes it where all of the photo os correctly exposed, by taking multiple photos of the same scene at different exposure levels, so that each area of the scene is correctly exposed, and then sticking all of the correctly exposed areas of the image together
4. Some of the artifacts that come with incorrectly exposed images such as distortion and blur of underexposed areas will not be apparent on an HDR photo because it is correct exposed in the first place

It turns out to be an ad for the Volkswagen car.

NEW story:
About a year ago, Lisa and John met at the Austin Rally For Connected Persons. They start dating, and Lisa grows to love John. John gets his man pants on and asks Lisa to marry him. But when Lisa agrees, she secretly has her fingers crossed, invalidating the proposal. Lisa BETRAYS John and marries rich white guy LIAM PHILLIPS! When John arrives one minute to late at the wedding, he stands in disbelief as Lisa explains, she had her fingers crossed.

News Story:

Earlier this week John Richards was rejected at marrying Lisa Rouche-Metts, who instead married Liam Phillips. John and Lisa where dating for a while before the wedding. Liam was Lisa's coworker at her job, Burwinkel and Furke Lawyering Services Northern Massachusetts Division.

The wedding was supposed to happen at Saint James Jack Lawrence Faith Presbyterian Eastern Orthodox Roman Catholic Religious Latter Day Saints House of International Episcopal House of the Lord Our God Church(with a hint of Scientology), located at 11506 West Gernby Lane. The church was attended by both John, Lisa, and Liam.

John was deeply saddened after the events of the day, and he recalls feeling slightly suicidal. "My whole life revolved around Lisa. I don't know what life would be without her," said John after a tearful goodbye.

When Lisa was asked how she felt, she said that she had no feelings for John. "I just dated him for a bet, and I didn't really intend on marrying him," she said after she and her new husband Liam.

Liam reported that he felt relieved that that John didn't get her because he reports that John was abusive. "John would call her and ask her what she was doing, at 4 in the morning. He would set up cameras pointe at her window, recording her every move. He would hire people to follow her when she went into the restroom and wherever she went," said Liam, comforting a emotionally moved Lisa.

When accused of these crimes, John stated that he did in fact do some of these things. "I did set up cameras, but only to keep her safe. I also did track her, but again only to keep her safe," he repeated even after intense questioning.

John was eventually arrested for stalking and predation, and is currently in the Alan P. Waterman-Klienhart Restricted Observation Center for Displaced Individuals, part of the larger Federal Restricted Persons Observation and Tracking Organization, or FRPOTO.

Final Exam Preview Assignment

1.) Summarize what you watched and read about - let's say 2-3 paragraphs of 3-4 sentences

iMovie is comparable to the more advanced video editing software, Final Cut Pro X. iMovie can make in widescreen and standard format, and that affects the end result of the video. iMovie can control the frame rate, and mostly the standard is 20 fps.

iMovie is standard with the Mac software, and you can get it for free from the Appstore. You can import files, export, edit the workflow, and split a clip. This tool is designed to be easy for the normal user to understand and use.

2.) Tell me one thing that you already knew about iMovie that the website explained

I have never used iMovie before, I have however used MovieMaker and Premiere Pro.

3.) Tell me one thing that you learned new today that you didn’t know before.

I learned that there are templates that you can use to make trailer. Most of the other software I have used does not include this basic feature.

4.) What are you concerned about with this final project?

I am concerned about the voice narration, because I ant it to be good. I will be recording at home with my Blue Yeti mic.

5.) What are you confident you can complete early and have ready to use?

I am confident that I can complete the narration because I already have a nice quality mic, and I know what I would like to say.

6.) If I asked you today, what do you think you will do for your video?

I am probably doing a shoot about Circle C greenbelt area, because I really need to get outside.

Portfolio Analysis

Justin Mott
Stories, traveling pictures
Going out of focus intentionally, not showing full faces, bodies, and quality of portfolio could be better
Photos where of good quality, judges liked point of view
These photos where alright, but definitely not the best. Sports photography is so over saturated already, there are a lot of them out there

Carlos Delgado
Stories
Judges did not like the photo stories at all, thought the color choice was not the best, and the captions where lacking
Judges did however enjoy the angles that he took at, and the humorous soccer picture
Some of his pictures where alright, especially the soccer one, but most of his pictures where probably subpar quality

Jordan Murph
Sports and Stories
Judges said needed more detail, discard posed action shots, and acquire more full face images
Judges noted nice emotion in some photos, and nice composition
Jordan I thought was a better photographer, because in the beginning he left a lot of his pictures really strong, but it did taper of towards the end. If he could focus, then there could be some really great shots.

Dustin Snipes
His composition, angles, and especially moments
I agree with the strengths the judges mentioned, because most of the pictures were framed, and Dustin has a great eye for pictures and there are really no weaknesses I can see

I agree with the judges in Part 5. The judges really like the picture with the girl and the goose in Part 5: Best Student Image and I can understand why because I think the composition is really good and I think it was cut just right.

I disagree with the judges on one of the student image photos. It is the one at a baseball game where the dad is tossing his daughter into the air and I think it is an amazing photo because the dad and daughter are a silhouette against the very colorful night sky. The judges just didn't think it was a good photo at all.

Nut Graf

A nut graf is the second paragraph in a feature length news story, frequently use to convey the purpose or newsworthiness of the story. It is often used to hook the reader and keep the reader interested. Many editors would say that the nut graf is the most important part of the story.

Nut grass are incredibly important, and they are often the difference between a good and bad story. They are the most memorable and put the story in context. Nut grafs are not easily identifiable, and vary wildly from story to story. Just as nut grafs provide context, they must be used in context.

Student of the Month Story

Who - Jessica , grade 9
What - Student of the Month recipient, April 2015
Where - James Bowie High School
When - April 20, 2015
Why - She was voted SotM because she is very smart and studies a lot
How - She got the most votes out of the entire freshman class, a total of 184

Jessica, a freshman at Bowie High School, received the SotM award April 2015 for her dedication to schoolwork and studying. She worked for most of the school year on this achievement, and says that it boosted her self esteem. A total of 184 freshman voted for Jessica, and she says it made her realize how smart she was.

Although it says Month, it is actually awarded once a year. Traditionally, the SotM winner helps out after school to tutor those in need, free of charge.

Usually the feeling of winning SotM brings extreme satisfaction and joy. "It felt pretty good, like being Harry Potter, the Chosen One," said SotM Jessica.

However, some opponents of Jessica voiced different opinions. "I believe that the election was a fraud," said Aaron Gornsbleson, who received 178 votes.

Supporters of Gornsbleson claim that Jessica and her friends skewed the election by exchanging the boxes where the votes where held with ones that had more votes for Jessica. "I saw Lane Lornewallis and Amelia Welsche-Green snooping around school with large boxes," said Durk Cresswelle, a prominent Gornsbleson supporter.

Jessica maintains her SotM validity, claiming that Gornsbleson frequently lies. "Aaron invited me to the  Kiker Spring Festival 2 years ago and never showed up. When I confronted him on this, he denied involvement and just ignored me," said Jessica.

When the administration was contacted about this, they declined comment. "Unfortunately due to the sensitive nature of the election, I cannot disclose any information regarding voting systems," said Steven Kane, principal of Bowie High School.

Most of the student body was happy with this years SotM election. "They make it very fair and open," said Brian Salgadoreno, a freshman who voted for Jessica.

The SotM award was started 10 years when James Smith got a perfect GPA 4 years in a row. “James was a great guy,” said his science teacher, Mr. Rynolds.

The SotM award consists of a plaque that the winner can hang on his or her wall. “We make it ourselves,” said Mrs. Drosslerz, Honors Art teacher.

The design consists of a large disk made of hardened clay taken from nearby soccer fields. “We help out by digging up the clay every year,” said Mr. Rochersby, soccer field manager.

The Student of the Month is selected the first Tuesday of every April.

Architecture preview 2

1.
This represents details because it displays the close and comfy feeling the two houses have, and it shows the angles. The three houses are connected, and this picture shows all of the intricate details.

2.
This represents light because the light falling in between the windows shows the angle and the reflections of the other houses. This picture shows off the uniqueness and specialness of the Cubic Houses.

3.
This shows off patterns because the houses are arranged so that they appear as a pattern when viewed on the same angle. The picture shows how the houses are angled, as this is the most important feature.

4.
This shows angles because the tri-biangle shown here displays the most important and most prominent selling feature of the Cubic Houses. With the loads in the background, and the windows looking down, this is a though provoking image detailing the intricacies of the Cubic Houses.

5.
This shows the comparatively old fashioned surroundings of the Cubic Houses. The surroundings are a stark contrast to the modernistic appearance of the Cubic Houses.

Iphone Photos

1. My favorite photo is a picture taken at the ground with a large red umbrella above the cameraman. The umbrella is red, which makes him look like he is bleeding, or like shot in the head, or super gross.

2. One of the things that you have to understand about phone cameras is that megapixels matter. However, megapixels are not all that it takes. The iPhone 6 camera is only 6 megapixels, however the Galaxy counterpart, Galaxy S6, has a 16 megapixel shooter. HDR mode cam help with this, and it was probably helped with this photo. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range, which can improve the quality of photos.

3. There are certainly apps that people use to improve the quality of images. Some might use artificial HDR or other affects. Just because it says taken by a phone camera doesn't mean that it used the default  camera .

4. USE HDR MODE! If you don't know where or what this does, then is is usually in the camera settings. On Android, you can edit the camera quick settings. However on iOS,  there is a toggle on the top of the camera settings.

5. Here are 2 example photos taken with HDR and without.

1. Pere Milà i Camps
2. 1984
3. Barcelona, Spain
4. You can visit as the public
5. No
6. It was a playboy house because the guy who made it was a playa(and rich)
7. I picked this building because it looked wired. The person who designed it probably didn't sleep in 10 days, went and got drunk, and lost both of his eyes and hands. Like who thinks this design was  a good idea? It looks very unstable and LOL-worthy

1. Margaret Strong
2. 1969
3. Rockester, New York
4. This is a public building
5. No
6. The building was created because the patron Margret Strong provided the money
7. The picture here is weird. The blocks resemble building blocks, and its interesting that they are put on a building. it is a museum of play, so the building blocks are symbolic of playthings, like Lego or Kinex.

1. Javier Sensonian
2. 2007
3. Mexico
4. Yes it is
5. No
6. The designer was employed to create a unique building
7. I chose this building because it was cool looking and it symbolized the water where fish live. Fish are an integral part of the biosphere because they are a food source and the most varied group of organisms.

1.  Grimshaw Architect Firm
2. Built in March 2001
3. Cornwall, United Kingdom
4. It is a public building
5. No there is not
6. It was an empty china clay pit and they turned it into a plant house place
7. It was designed to promote learning about the environment and shows over 4,000 plants, with hundreds of types of taxa. Biology is really cool, and its one of my favorite classes. I actually have heard about this when the Band went to london, and we considered going there.

1. Peit Blom
2. Built in 1984
3. In Rotterdam Netherlands
4. You can buy them, however one house is always open to visitors
5. No it doesn't
6. The designer want to create a building that was a place for anything could happen. It was designed to be put inside a city.
7. I had heard about these houses before, and they where cool because they are not like conventional houses. They are tilted at a 45 degree angle, and the insides are way different, than conventional houses. I be they are priced at a premium, and they would be cool to live in when I'm retired.

Sensory Overload

1. This statement makes sense because he is saying the world we live in is not important and that how we perceive and intact with the world is more important.

2. Yes, because it is very beautiful and colorful and wild. The people that are there don't realize how special the area is.

3. It would be fun because theres a lot of stuff to mess with while my parents worked.

4. My favorite picture is where there is a girl staring at the stuff and the blends in because she is wearing a colorful clothing.

News Values

Timeliness

"Google's Blogger to put sexually explicit content behind privacy wall" http://www.cnet.com/news/googles-blogger-to-put-explicit-content-behind-privacy-wall/
This is timeliness because Blogger only announced this today. This will make all of the Blogger users be careful posting on that site.

Proximity

"Austin alcohol sales increase"
http://www.kvue.com/story/news/local/2015/02/24/austin-alcohol-sales-increase/23924889/
This in pacts people near to us, because it is referring to austin. This is good and bad, because people can drink more, but it is bad because people can drink and drive now, so there might be crashes and stuff.

Prominence

"Obama Vetoes Keystone XL Pipeline Bill, Defying GOP"
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/congress-sends-keystone-bill-obama-plans-veto-29181671
This is prominent because this impacts a lot of potential jobs and is a hallmark of Obamas presidency. This will probably make the Republicans very angry, and they will make them work harder against Obama.

Impact

"Congress split over ways to face Islamic State"
http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/congress-is-divided-as-it-prepares-to-debate-war-against-the-islamic-state/2015/02/22/16a57c7e-b922-11e4-aa05-1ce812b3fdd2_story.html
If we intervene, we might spark off another war in the Middle East. This will shape foreign policy in the Middle East for the next long time.

Conflict

"Vladmir Putin" War with Ukraine would be 'apocalyptic' but unlikely"
http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/24/europe/ukraine-russia-conflict/
If they do start fighting, this could expand into a larger European war. If the US got further involved, than that might be enough to spark a larger worldwide conflict.

Human Interest

"Lawsuit targets Vermont over abortion"
http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/story/news/local/2015/02/24/lawsuit-targets-vermont-abortion/23909863/
If the state of Vermont becomes another battleground state for abortion, then that wow restrict women's rights even more in this nation. The continued fight against abortion le by the Republican party shows that they have little or no regard for the rights of women, and that they just don't care about anyone except for taxpaying white Americans.

Novelty

"Cancer patient turns illness into punchline"
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/breast-cancer-patient-nicole-osborne-turns-illness-into-punchline/
This is a novel thing because cancer is usually a very bad thing, and the way that the comedian is reacting to it is very positive. He turned his death diagnosis into a laughable event.

1. What is your favorite photo in the entire paper?
The soccer photo under the Boys soccer kick their game into high gear
1A. Why is this your favorite?
I like the originality of it, the way it displays the player
2. What is your least favorite photo in the entire paper?
The signing of the bulldog baseball players
2A. Why is this your least favorite?I found it uninteresting…
3. If you were a photographer on staff, which event/photo assignment would you have liked to do for this issue? You will need to look through the entire paper and see the topics covered and decide which one you think would have been fun.
I, once again, think the soccer photo is a really good photo! It was well taken, and a good action shot.
4. Overall, how would you rate the photography in this issue? What were the strong points and weak points.
I would say the photos were all well taken, and the only weak point was that some of the photos were uninteresting to the eye.

1. My favorite photo was the photo of Deborah Moreno singing for Son De Rey  entitled First Session.
1A. This is my favorite because it shows how she is outside of school, and that is probably a critical part of the storytelling process.
1B. The Rule of Thirds is evident because Deborah is in the lower right of the image in the lower right rule of thirds location.

2. My least favorite photo is the picture of Jeremiah Gause who was presenting his science project in front of the judges.
2A. This is my least favorite because it is taken at an unconventional angle, which makes me uncomfortable about this photo.

3. Coincidentally, the science fair would have been cool to photograph because I an interested in science.

4. All right, because I could see that the photographers are going for new angles, with good or bad results. This shows a willingness for change, and it makes me optimistic for the future of the newspaper program here which I would like to join.

Other High School Newspapers

1. The Highlander, because the front was really non-intuitave. The article featured an outline of a water bottle, with a pie chart in the middle.

2. The Highlander, my favorite newspaper, grabbed my interest because the interesting front cover. It really was like WOW there it was.

3. The favorite, and only, headline was "Trash Talk: Does Homestead recycle?" which was talking about recycling at schools, with interviews with students and teachers.

4. There are only one front page story on my favorite.

5. They have a large name of the paper, and a prominent headline bold title.

6. The amount of pictures and the picture type.

7. Not really, because you could tell it was students, not professionals. Everything seemed slightly more disorganized and random.
