Nut Graf

A nut graf is the second paragraph in a feature length news story, frequently use to convey the purpose or newsworthiness of the story. It is often used to hook the reader and keep the reader interested. Many editors would say that the nut graf is the most important part of the story.

Nut grass are incredibly important, and they are often the difference between a good and bad story. They are the most memorable and put the story in context. Nut grafs are not easily identifiable, and vary wildly from story to story. Just as nut grafs provide context, they must be used in context.
